Just last week my 15 year old daughter Emily took on a job painting a BMX for one of the worlds best BMX Dirt and Freestyle riders - Ryan Guettler.
The story was, he was trying to contact me after picking up one of my business cards and in a failed attempt to get in touch with me he contacted Emily as she works at the local GC Compound- (indoor BMX centre) here on the Gold Coast where he had been practicing recently. He asked her if I would paint his bike for him and she replied – “I don’t think he will, he doesn’t paint small stuff like that anymore, but I can do it”….Talk about poaching my work off me!
Anyway she was very excited to take on the job and I was so impressed with the result I thought I’d share it. By the way Ryan was very happy with it too, so much so he said it’s too good to ride so he’s going to put on on display instead. It’s also proof that practice pays off, Emily has been a student and helper at nearly all of my airbrush courses over the years and I’m proud of her for putting herself out there and believing in her abilities. She is already getting requests to paint other bikes.
Here it is -

Well done Emily! The frame looks really smart. Dad must be proud. Don’t underestimate yourself ever. There are plenty of skilled female artists around and it’s nice to see another talented lady.
